Shiatsu developed in Japan and has roots in Chinese medicine, the philosophy of Yin and Yang and the meridians, the five elements and Qi/energy.

It is a bodywork therapy that acts with gentle and deep pressure on meridians and points of the body. Pressure is applied in harmony with the breath to achieve greater relaxation and better flow of Qi/energy.

In treatment, I will apply pressure on your body with my hands, elbows, fingers, feet and knees. This all done through your clothes, on a futon on the floor. I will also use blankets, cloths, cushions and bolsters to support your body throughout the treatment.

Shiatsu can improve your overall wellbeing by restoring and maintaining the body’s energy balance and preventing the build up of stress and its effects. It helps to relieve a wide variety of conditions for instance, insomnia, pain in general, muscle tension, headache, back pain and digestive issues.
